According to this, XRaiseWindow in Metacity should work, but focus
stealing prevention stops skippy from using it;
So, my question is have the window managers decided to not honor the
standard XRaiseWindow request?

It's called focus
Hi
I had the same problem with metacity, it was fixed by activating Auto
Raise in gconf-editor (Apps-metacity-general). May be this should be
added to the README.Debian File.
Cheers,

reassign 318351 metacity
thanks
Oops, totally forgot about this bug .. I should reasing it to metacity
as it ignores XRaiseWindow() calls, and that the setting (that maybe
fixs this issue) you're pointing has other effects that can be
unwanted.
I'll reassign this bug to metacity

Hi,
I don't really like this solution as it sounds hackish to me and I
think this is a Metacity bug. I want to know what metacity maintainers
think about this issue ...
Anyway I don't like the patch, it doesn't remove XRaiseWindow (witch
is supposed to be the offender) and I guess needs more
I am experiencing what appears to be this exact bug in the latest
version of skippy, 0.5.1rc1-4. Please check, and let me know if you need
any further info, screen shots, etc.
Thanks,
Matthew

As said in the changelog this not a 'bug' but a default configuration
of skippy. It might be fixed adding the XDamage code from skippy-xd, I
started working on it once, but didn't find time to fix.
Please test if the procedure described in the README fixes your issue,
if not, please consider it
Unfortunately the bug I'm seeing isn't the refresh issue, but that
skippy isn't grabbing images of the correct windows at all. Instead,
skippy seems to be grabbing an image of the section of the screen above
the window. I will send you a screenshot. This isn't helped by
activating the autoRefresh
- window manager is Gnome 2.10 (up to date packages from testing)
- it happens when firefox is closed
- it happens when i launch skippy after everything else is open, and if
I launch skippy first.
- i do see the windows flip in the taskbar, but here's a clue:
only windows open in the application
