Looking at ~/.cache/gdm/session.log ([1]) I find

OK, I managed to get it working again...
I upgraded gvfs an libsoup to experimental (together with a couple of
remaining glib packages...):

I just updated to the experimental package. Since then, extentions.gnome.org
has stopped working for me.
I can visit the site, check for installed extensions and I am also offered to
update installed extensions. However,
