Package: viking Version: 1.7-1 Severity: normal If "Autodownload maps" is enabled, in practice, one also needs to enable "Autodownload Only Gets Missing Maps" (each time viking is started, because this is not the default and this option is not saved). Otherwise moving the map often makes viking hang for a few seconds: it seems that it tries to re-download parts of the maps, even if this has already been done several seconds ago, and this makes viking hardly usable.
The issue with enabling "Autodownload Only Gets Missing Maps" is that parts of the maps could have been downloaded years ago, so that they can have become obsolete. The user should be able to control cache expiry time. -- System Information: Debian Release: bullseye/sid APT prefers unstable-debug APT policy: (500, 'unstable-debug'), (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 5.2.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=POSIX, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=POSIX (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages viking depends on: ii gpsbabel 1.6.0+ds-7 ii libatk1.0-0 2.33.3+really2.32.0-4 ii libbz2-1.0 1.0.6-9.2 ii libc6 2.28-10 ii libcairo2 1.16.0-4 ii libcurl3-gnutls 7.65.3-1 ii libexpat1 2.2.7-1 ii libfontconfig1 2.13.1-2+b1 ii libfreetype6 2.9.1-4 ii libgcc1 1:9.2.1-6 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.38.1+dfsg-1 ii libgeoclue-2-0 2.5.3-1 ii libgexiv2-2 0.10.9-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.60.6-2 ii libgps23 3.17-7 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.32-3 ii libicu63 63.2-2 ii libmagic1 1:5.37-5 ii libmapnik3.0 3.0.22+ds1-1 ii libnettle6 3.4.1-1+b1 ii liboauth0 1.0.3-3 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.42.4-7 ii libpangocairo-1.0-0 1.42.4-7 ii libpangoft2-1.0-0 1.42.4-7 ii libsqlite3-0 3.29.0-2 ii libstdc++6 9.2.1-6 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.7-1 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.11.dfsg-1+b1 Versions of packages viking recommends: ii expect [expect-dev] 5.45.4-2+b1 Versions of packages viking suggests: pn gpsd <none> -- no debconf information -- Vincent Lefèvre <vinc...@vinc17.net> - Web: <https://www.vinc17.net/> 100% accessible validated (X)HTML - Blog: <https://www.vinc17.net/blog/> Work: CR INRIA - computer arithmetic / AriC project (LIP, ENS-Lyon)
