Oh, I see that iwd now ships /lib/systemd/network/80-iwd.link containing: [Match] Type=wlan [Link] NamePolicy=keep kernel This will disable the new naming scheme for wlan devices. This explains why Nicolas did not see any error message in the kernel log about wlan0 being busy. So the mere
