Bug#526675: FTBFS with GCC 4.4: declaration... shadows template parm
I'm not sure where to send this, or if anyone is interested, but attached is a patch that fixes the problem. It will be fixed upstream for the next release of Gecode. For further consideration, I'm not positive that this is an actual problem with gecode-3.0.2. The naming-conflict only occurs in the header at the function declarations, in the implementation file at the definitions the function parameters are named share instead of shr avoiding a naming problem. I'm not a C++ expert though, so I don't know what the correct behavior is. Btw, evolution help says (about the “Automatically syncronize remote mail locally”): If you check this option, Evolution fetches the headers as well as the body of the message simultaneously. In this case, the time taken to open a message is comparatively less. In addition, you can download the mail for reading them offline, when you have checked this option. Would it be a good idea to set ~/.evolution to 700 perhaps? Or just adopt a restrictive umask for the whole of evolution (mail being a rather more sensitive application than most)? Many site policies are for home directories to be world or group readable, and trusting users not to be stupid with their permissions. Unfortunately this breaks down when the applications themselves are stupid. This affects upstream as well, as verified by several installations of deadrat and the like installed over many years at work. Are you saying that if you change .evolution permissions to 700, they are set back to 744 after evolution run? Because they aren't here. If you say that evolution should create folder/files with more restrictive defaults, I disagree. evolution should just use what the current umask is. If you want it to another value, just set it in you environment before running evolution (isn't that the purpose of umask anyway?). Multi-user systems running evolution aren't that frequent, I guess (multi-user systems aren't that frequent anyway, these days) and you can adjust the permissions for your ~ and .evolution in a lot of different ways. retitle 526613 possible cultural appropriation of tipi icon on wiki thanks On Mon, 04 May 2009, Simon Raven Côté wrote: That is not the negative aspect, it is that someone not of that culture is using the tipi icon to represent community. I.E., cultural appropriation. If the issue is cultural appropriation, then please, lets use the those terms instead. I personally don't think that the utilization of tipi in the narrow context of representing community is a particularly egregious form of cultural appropriation. That said, if someone proproses a replacement that more elegantly represents community, by all means change it. Bug#396954: Bug# 396954: mplayer: please also provide mencoder
On Monday 04 May 2009 01:01:12 Reinhard Tartler wrote: Andres Mejia mcita...@gmail.com writes: Is this bug going to be fixed or should this bug be tagged wontfix? I don't understand why mencoder is not included in Debian. Debian has the ffmpeg encoder in main. Why is mencoder not distributed as well? AFAIUI, mplayer was only accepted into debian under the provision that mencoder is removed. However, things have changed a bit. The objections with the encoders can be adressed in the same way as in ffmpeg, so IMO it should make no problem to introduce mencoder into debian proper, under the provision that the same encoder policy as in ffmpeg is applied to mplayer as well. So Debian may at the least carry a stripped version of mencoder. This still makes me unhappy. :-( See also bug #522373. I've read the bug. It's been a little over a month now and no response. Perhaps a discussion should be started at debian-legal, debian-devel, and/or debian- policy. I too think there should be clarification on what to do for concerns about any and all patents, not just mpeg related ones. It's not clear at all, and the only place where the word patent is mentioned in debian-policy is section 2.2.3 (I did a site search for patent through google). I think debian-policy should be revised to cover topics on patents, or a relevant General Resolution should be proposed. -- Regards, Andres signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

Bug#503336: New version available
2009/5/3 Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer perezme...@gmail.com Ivan: a new version of kopete (4.2.2-1) is available. Could you please check that the bug still applies? (I can find the services sub menu, but GTalk doesn't provide transports, so I can not test it myself). You can use non-GTalk server just for transport services; you don't even have to have an account on that server. For example, jaim.at. However if you do use jaim.at or msn.jaim.at or some other transport server with Google, be aware that it'll spam your account with all your other-service contacts, which you probably don't want to do. Luckily, Jabber provides extremely simple account registration, so I think it should be no problem to register a test account on jaim.at :) Regarding the bug, yes, apparently I can see the Services submenu now. However restart of Kopete is required for the new virtual account to appear in the account list on bottom of the window. Also none of the transport-specific contacts appear. I have tested with MSN and ICQ transports at Jaim.at. When using Psi, at least my ICQ contacts do appear (and I get asked for confirmation to authorize adding them to my contact list). Are you sure your jabber server provides transports? (I don't know). Yes, I previously tested with Psi (a specialized jabber client). -- Regards, Ivan Vučica

Yes, I'm saying they should be created with more restrictive defaults. evolution should just use what the current umask is. No need to add complexity to that huge stack of code. Family machines? (eg, the machine I found this bug on. I myself wouldn't use evolution or indeed desktop environments if I was forced at gunpoint, but that's what mum uses. In desktop environments, good luck setting a sensible umask.) What kind of complexity is int main(...) { umask(0700); ... } ? Since mail (and web browser profiles - I believe firefox does this, and opera certainly does) is about the only thing of this kind of sensitivity, it should explicitly set mail permissions. More sensible MTAs like alpine and mutt do this (indeed, alpine warns you if you have silly permissions). -- TimC Dijkstra probably hates me (Linus Torvalds, on gotos in kernel/sched.c) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. An apt-get -b source libtommath from the testing repository gives dependency errors (debhelper 6) Libclamav-dev is needed to build the latest version of havp (a scanning proxy), which is (unfortunately) not in the volatile project (in which it should be IMHO ;-) R. -- ___ It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak aloud and remove all doubt. +--+ | Richard Lucassen, Utrecht| | Public key and email address:| | http://www.lucassen.org/mail-pubkey.html | +--+ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#517734: ITP: lusca -- Lusca Web Proxy Cache
G'day, I just noticed this request for a Debian Lusca package. I'd love to see this happen and I'm willing to help out as much as I can to get this built, integrated and released. (And a whole lot of Lusca development happens on Debian too! I'm just not at all familiar with building / maintaining Debian packages.) Bug#523339: Problem exists in unstable too
Hi! The problem reported here also exists in unstable. At each openswan package upgrade, a new key is generated: Warning: there is already a RSA key in /etc/ipsec.secrets. Creating an additional one. Successfully created a plain openswan RSA keypair. I don't understand the logic behind there is already a key, let's create a new one. Why would a new key needed if there is already one? My proposition would be to not create a new one if a key already exists. Thanks. -- No fortunes found pgpsBrg4jWSyh.pgp Description: PGP signature

Bug#526892: spider: Should this package be replaced with xpat2?
Package: spider Severity: normal Spider is the name for a type of solo card game, it's the name that people playing it with physical cards will be used to. Debian has both spider and xpat2. xpat2 upstream is a fork of spider after spider upstream stopped (in 1990). Both have similar UI and dependencies (the X Athena toolkit) spider has the higher popcon (150 votes vs 40) spider is smaller (442k vs 1470k) xpat2 -rules Spider is equivalent to the spider package. (but choosing Spider via the in-game menu is different - http://bugs.debian.org/526888 ) Spider has two update your dependencies bugs, one of which has just been raised to RC, so it seems a good time to ask whether the packages should merge. I suggest keeping a package with the name spider (as that's well-known), but make it a script to run xpat2. Hi all, I made this patch for Ubuntu Jaunty, but I can't detect any big changes between this version and the debian version. It modifies the include paths, replaces the img_convert function and adds extra linking stuff to the libraries. I'm not very good with Makefiles and C, but it seems to fix the problem. -- Gijs Molenaar http://gijs.pythonnic.nl diff -uNr opencv-1.0.0/configure opencv-1.0.0-fixed/configure --- opencv-1.0.0/configure 2009-05-03 17:11:43.192450271 +0200 +++ opencv-1.0.0-fixed/configure 2009-05-03 17:15:02.471951090 +0200 @@ -22467,8 +22467,8 @@ fi if test x$with_ffmpeg = xyes; then if test ${ac_cv_header_ffmpeg_avcodec_h+set} = set; then - { echo $as_me:$LINENO: checking for ffmpeg/avcodec.h 5 -echo $ECHO_N checking for ffmpeg/avcodec.h... $ECHO_C 6; } + { echo $as_me:$LINENO: checking for libavcodec/avcodec.h 5 +echo $ECHO_N checking for libavcodec/avcodec.h... $ECHO_C 6; } if test ${ac_cv_header_ffmpeg_avcodec_h+set} = set; then echo $ECHO_N (cached) $ECHO_C 6 fi @@ -22476,8 +22476,8 @@ echo ${ECHO_T}$ac_cv_header_ffmpeg_avcodec_h 6; } else # Is the header compilable? -{ echo $as_me:$LINENO: checking ffmpeg/avcodec.h usability 5 -echo $ECHO_N checking ffmpeg/avcodec.h usability... $ECHO_C 6; } +{ echo $as_me:$LINENO: checking libavcodec/avcodec.h usability 5 +echo $ECHO_N checking libavcodec/avcodec.h usability... $ECHO_C 6; } cat conftest.$ac_ext _ACEOF /* confdefs.h. */ _ACEOF @@ -22485,7 +22485,7 @@ cat conftest.$ac_ext _ACEOF /* end confdefs.h. */ $ac_includes_default -#include ffmpeg/avcodec.h +#include libavcodec/avcodec.h _ACEOF rm -f conftest.$ac_objext if { (ac_try=$ac_compile @@ -22517,15 +22517,15 @@ echo ${ECHO_T}$ac_header_compiler 6; } # Is the header present? -{ echo $as_me:$LINENO: checking ffmpeg/avcodec.h presence 5 -echo $ECHO_N checking ffmpeg/avcodec.h presence... $ECHO_C 6; } +{ echo $as_me:$LINENO: checking libavcodec/avcodec.h presence 5 +echo $ECHO_N checking libavcodec/avcodec.h presence... $ECHO_C 6; } cat conftest.$ac_ext _ACEOF /* confdefs.h. */ _ACEOF cat confdefs.h conftest.$ac_ext cat conftest.$ac_ext _ACEOF /* end confdefs.h. */ -#include ffmpeg/avcodec.h +#include libavcodec/avcodec.h _ACEOF if { (ac_try=$ac_cpp conftest.$ac_ext case (($ac_try in @@ -22558,25 +22558,25 @@ # So? Bug#526349: elinks: FTBFS on i386 auto build
On 09/05/01 13:24 +0300, Kalle Olavi Niemitalo said ... We have AsciiDoc 7.1.2 configuration files in the ELinks source tree in order to lock the input syntax against AsciiDoc upgrades (Debian bug 491820) or user modifications of /etc/asciidoc. The AsciiDoc User Guide recommends bundling the asciidoc script too (under Shipping stand-alone AsciiDoc source) but I had previously assumed I could rely on the script remaining compatible with old config files. So I'll now add the script there, and Debian can then replace the asciidoc build-dependency with some version of python. Thank you, that will help. This change will go in the elinks-0.12 and master branches. Do you need it in elinks-0.11 as well? No, unless there is a security fix we will not update 0.11.4 in stable (also, elinks 0.11.4 builds using asciidoc 8.2.7 in Debian -- both in stable in case someone wants to build it in lenny). Bug#526896: Missing / broken dependency on uuid-dev/libdevmapper-dev
Package: libparted1.8-dev Version: 1.8.8.git.2008.03.24-11.1 Severity: important Hi, libparted.la declares a dependency on uuid and devmapper: dependency_libs=' -ldl -ldevmapper -luuid' Yet the package is missing the required Depends. A package that uses libtool to links against libparted will thus fail to build if uuid-dev and libdevmapper-dev are not installed. On the other hand, /usr/lib/pkgconfig/libparted.pc does not list uuid and devmapper as dependency. So either the pkg-config file is incorrect or the libtool dependencies were added errorneously. Either way, this should be fixed (by either stripping -ldevmapper -luuid from libparted.la or removing libparted.la, or by declaring the missing Depends).
