this bug was opened by you some time ago.
The recent versions of icedove are much away from the reported version.
Do you still have this problems?
I belive this problems are gone over the variant versions of icedove.

with current versions in squeeze and wheezy I can't reproduce this
behavior.
If I use F6 to switch the focus of the windows I can scroll thrue every
window wihout losing the focus to the current message/folder/body. Or
did I something misconceive?

All my installations and later creation of a new accounts in icedove does
*not* have this deleting after 30 days enabled by default!
Did you use a clean fresh profile?
