I made some progresses on the installation of debian on my iMac G5.
After intense googling, I found this the bug 321962 [1], which itself
leads to a patch [2] on the yaboot-devel mailing list.

I finally managed to install a boot loader. To do so, I booted in rescue
mode, mounted the root partition in /target, and upgraded to sid.
Here are the details
- Boot on the install cd, type rescue, and press return.
- Answer the trivial questions about hostname, and select

- Download the latest ppc64 debian-installer[1];
- boot, enter 'install';
- proceed until it complains that yaboot can not be installed;
- Alt-F2 to open a console, chroot /target
- edit /etc/apt/sources-list, and

add the nakaguro glyph in the gcanna.ctd file, as in the following:

experienced the following:
- GDM was using all the screen, but apparently at a low resolution.
- Mouse and keyboard input were not working.
I attached the logs to this email.

It looked fixed on my home computer, but the bug is still there. There
is the following message in `/var/log/apache2/error.log':

I am too uncomfortable with the autotools to convert the package to wx2.8, but
