I agree that we can remove EMBOSS in all 32-bit platforms. I think that
a large fraction of the scientific field has no appetite to do any extra
volunteer work to such as accepting our patches to support scientific
computations on 32-bit systems in 15 years...

I do not know for r-bioc-netsam, but for r-bioc-org.hs.eg.db and similar
packages, it is because it is an "annotation

Looking at the source code, it seems that node-mime-types does not need
mime-support at all. But if it does please build depend on media-types
instead.

The `media-types` package was split out of `mime-support` during the
previous release cycle and distributes the
ersion may build fine, and let biophython pass its tests, we do not
know if t_coffee produces sound results on these architectures. Unless
we know or hear from an ARM user, I would recommend to play safe and
only distribute it on amd64 for this release.

history of that file.

https://bugs.debian.org/886389 in dpkg. I will wait some time
for an answer and if nothing comes, I will try if
dpkg-maintscript-helper can be used to force mime-support forget its
conffiles without losing the local changes.

conffiles belong to
mime-support, not to media-types as you reported initially.
I am checking on debian-mentors if the fact that mime-support still
declares obsolete conffiles is a bug or not, and will update the package
or close the bug accordingly.
