I am running GNOME under VNC. For no obvious reason the panel has
recently become unresponsive. To demonstrate I make a .vnc/xstartup
containing only 'xterm ', start a vnc session, and connect to it.
From that xterm I can start

The degree of technical confidence
/apt/preferences has a higher priority (990)
for stable. I noticed that in another bug I filed the other day, from
another stable machine. Perhaps it's a bug in reportbug.
