actual code was not visible... it is now!)
Once again comments, suggestions and encouragement gratefully accepted :)

ese data structures with no provision
to edit them via the parsed versions (although the Deb822 super-class would
let you edit the raw text and reserialise that to make changes). I've written
it on the assumption that dpkg would always be the generator of the file and
that python-debian is only providing
he changelog be bad in some way.
Like the accessors for environment and Installed-Build-Depends, this would be a
read-
only method, not providing a simple way to edit/insert the changelog into an
existing
buildinfo file.
Is that what you imagined?

Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
While looking at #942942, I needed to be able to build the debian-reference
package to check that my changes made sense. Unfortunately, the git 'master'
branch is not currently buildable as many po syntax errors have
make the change as it's easy enough to do)

A patch that seems to fix the Python-related problems is at
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/adequate/-/merge_requests/1
but note that there seem to be other changes (perhaps related to a change in
GCC?) that must also be addressed.

Source: openmpi
Version: 4.0.5-4
Severity: minor
Dear Maintainer,
The Vcs-* headers for openmpi indicate the wrong branch on salsa:
Vcs-Browser: https://salsa.debian.org/hpc-team/openmpi
Vcs-Git: https://salsa.debian.org/hpc-team/openmpi.git -b debian/master
The latest changes on salsa are
Source: lilypond
Version: 2.20.0-1
Severity: serious
Justification: FTBFS
Dear Maintainer,
When trying to rebuild lilypond (before investigating whether the build could
be ported to Python 3), I found that the package currently FTBFS.
Appropriate section of the log file is as follows:
cat
This is fixed in the recent 1.0.2 release which is design to go with SasView
5.0.2.
I've got this packaged locally but have to hunt down a failing test before
uploading.

that bkchem currently ships embedded copies of; a
py3-bkchem therefore needs to catch up with changes to other modules as well
as port to Python 3. All this without a test suite to help catch the
inevitable porting problems.
I say this as a bkchem user who doesn't have a good Plan B :(

Excellent, thanks for that info!
I'll get this and some other recent bits and pieces for python-debian merged
together and uploaded.
thanks
