It seems to me that this is because of a non-recognized shlibs dependency - The package declares the correct relationships on i386 and s390, but doesn't on all other architectures: $ for i in tcptrace*deb; do echo == $i; dpkg -e $i; grep Depends DEBIAN/control; done == tcptrace_6.6.1-1_alpha.deb
