gscan2pdf was run as: gscan2pdf --debug debug.log 21
What I did was importing a JPEG file (tried many times with arbitrary scanned
and on-disk images, the problem persists), choosing Save and saving it on disk
as PDF, 300 dpi, 95 embedded JPEG
