Hi, small update to the bug report. The libc6-i386 package screwed up the transition by forgetting to delete the /lib32 and /usr/lib32 in preinst. So on upgrades all files remain under /emul/ia32-linux/ and the only thing that changes is the way dpkg sees them. So you don't need a Pre-Depends
