I don't have the patch around but I believe you can get the patch by
searching the mailing list and ask the patch author directly.
I don't use dia currently but there's a workaround you can try: try
other canvas items (such as a database box etc.) into which you can
input chinese.

I am using dia 0.93 under debian unstable now. But I got the same
problems,can not input chinese (TW) in
canvas, like you have.

I have subscribed to dia list for a while and reported the chinese
support problem; it seems that the issue has been dropped for now due to
lack of developer interest.
There is a patch to enable chinese input into DiaText and related
shapes, and this patch works. However, to input chinese onto
I can't input Chinese in diagram edit window of dia too, but I can input
in properties editor box. And Chinese charactor can display correctly in
diagram edit window.
I don't think this is a configuration problem, maybe the dia should be
patched before you can input Chinese in the diagram edit
Same thing here. I just found out that I can input chinese in the dialog
boxes, but not directly onto the canvas; maybe it's a dia bug, so I
reported this to the dia list.
I'll keep everyone posted about any feedback from the dia list.

I'm using Dia 0.92.2-3 on debian/unstable. I find it impossible to input
chinese into dia. I remember I could input chinese in the past, but the
font sizes were huge. Does the current version of dia support chinese at
all?
