It is very popular among Emacs newcomers. I intend to package it as an Emacs addon with a wrapper shell script /usr/bin/spacemacs to load everything up. This will allow the user to easily switch back to normal Emacs by quitting and running /usr/bin/emacs. I will maintain the package myself, as part of the Debian Emacsen team.
