The problems is triggered by the new version of tar that is present only
in sid, squeeze is not affected. However given the packages are built in
a sid chroot, we might be in trouble, especially given the package has
been uploaded almost 50
Therefore I think it should be fixed as soon as possible. IMHO the best
way to fix that is to remove the stub for at* functions as we don't want

This fix is long-term-fix. But I do not agree to do it now, for squeeze

That's indeed another option. Clint, what do you think about it? Note
it's only something temporary until we fix the real issue on eglibc.
If the only downside is that fakeroot will be broken when backported
to earlier kFreeBSD versions (were there any without the stub functions?)
then it seems

I tracked down the problem to the AT_* #define that are different
between GNU/Linux and GNU/Hurd on one side and GNU/kFreeBSD on the other
side.
I have committed a patch to glibc-bsd to move those definitions to
bits/fcntl.h. The same has to be done on upstream glibc, which impact
quite a lot of

1) the AT constants might be put into a different new file,
i.e. bits/atfile.h or bits/atfcntl.h. This way it would suffice
just only one new generic file.
Good idea, I am going to implement this solution and push it upstream.
It has the advantage that only the main glibc has to be

Suprisingly, POSIX-2008 mandates unlink() have to return [EPERM] on
directory, not [EPERM] or [EISDIR].
[EPERM]
The file named by path is a directory, and either the calling process
does not have appropriate privileges, or the implementation prohibits
using unlink() on directories.
I have tried to build the i386 package with --with-__thread now that
we have TLS support on i386, but it failed. No time to investigate though.
I would bet on patch level of local-i486_ldt_support.diff, fixed in r1419.

Hi,
it seems related to #364338, #364516.
There is LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4 in sarge version of /usr/sbin/mkinitrd.
Could you downgrade your initrd-tools to sarge version
and change it into LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1.
Does it help ?

Hi (Aurelien),
please, could you propagate current list of optimized packages

Hi,
there is a missing new line at the end of debian/control.in/opt.
As a result, following debian/control file is generated.
At least package libc0.1-i686 is not built at all,
libnss-dns-udeb contains in header Pre-Depends: libc6 (= 2.3.6.ds1-3).

Hi,
libc6/ldconfig is broken on plain i486 and i586 platforms.
It is due to

I am also tagging this bug help as I am waiting a patch from the m68k
porters to support thread local storage, as already asked on the
debian-m68k mailing list.
As far as I know, only two places in glibc 2.5 require __thread:
inet/inet_ntoa.c and malloc/memusage.c

Hi,
I do not like the idea of adding
amd64_set_gsbase and i386_set_fsbase into our shared libc.
The only user so far is wine,
it already have OS specific setting of fs/gs.

The second option is to insert into
machine/sysarch.h always inline functions.
I don't see a problem with using inline functions. Shall we do this?
Yes, it is easier and can be stopped any time.

Hi,
I looked at just commited r4891, and it seems that it breaks
kfreebsd-amd64 seriously.
On kfreebsd-amd64, the ELF interpreter is /lib/ld-kfreebsd-x86-64.so.1,
i.e. it is really in /lib, not in /lib64.
The lib64 - lib symlinks in previous eglibc versions only have been
as defence
the multiarch-support minimum dependency for armhf, which settled
its triplet only at the time i386 did.

The following code (extracted from dash's test builtin) is behaving
differently between linux and kfreebsd, having a 644 `test' file and
running it on linux as root user prints -1 while on kfreebsd it prints
0.
We already wrap access syscall to more intuitive behaviour,
we should try to do the same also for faccessat.
Pending for next eglibc upload.
So relying on this is actually a bug in dash?
(and there's probably no easy way to check how faccessat is behaving right?)
Yes, and yes.
