Package: linux-image-2.6.18-4-686-bigmem
Version: 2.6.18.dfsg.1-12etch2
Severity: normal
I've seen some issues like this in the past, were processes will start
collecting in the D state (waiting on disk or i/o etc). I almost caught
a crashdump (not sure how usefull that would have been).
FYI, the bug report #420754 seems to correspond to this problem, and
proposes a workaround.
I'm gonna try it and test if this solves the issue.
Best regards,

Hi.
FYI, the proposed workaround in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=420754#5 helps solve
the issue.
I've patched /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hook-functions, then issued :
mkinitramfs -o /boot/initrd.img-2.6.18-4-xen-686 2.6.18-4-xen-686
After that : the lib/ in the initrd image

Mounting devpts on /dev/pts makes it work
So the question is, why is it not mounted? It is mounted by
/etc/init.d/mountdevsubfs.sh.
