On the other hand, using .desktop files as described in [1] does work.
If you do System Settings = Startup and shutdown = Add program, it
will create the .desktop file for you.

When I use Disconnected IMAP in KMail, it stops being able to check my email

I'm facing the same issue!
If you try to hide any item or change the order of items in the resource
