Hi
Just a question to prove if the problem I have is a local problem in my
maschine or if it is a debian problem.
I have just made some changes in my firewall and now I am having problems
with apt-get update because when connecting to
http://ftp2.de.debian.org
nothing happens

Also note that if those packages actually did contain malicious code,
uninstalling is a totally pointless exercise. I rather doubt that an
attacker is going to be kind enough to add a remove script for their
rootkit ;)

OK, now I got really worried
Because I'm a bit lazy I've put the apt-get update upgrade into the crontab
of one of my machines.
Now is the question, how do I know if those installed packages are hacked or
not ? Some suggestions and help please ?
I've removed procmail+nano+xbase-clients

Im new to this however I dont beleive the problem being experienced is due
to my newbiehoodism
in my sources.list file I have the following entry +
deb ftp://security.debian.org/ stable/updates main contrib non-free

Try http instead of ftp, If you insist on using ftp (which might be a
bit slower) try ftp://security.debian.org/debian-security as the base
path.
