Upgrade Jessie to kernel 4.2

(Setup info at end) I am considering upgrading the kernel my stable install to kernel version 4.2 from jessie-backports. The main purpose of this is to see whether it helps with the problem I have been having with sound. *My question is* : how much / what do I risk breaking in doing this?

Hi all: I've newly bought a laptop (details at end) & installed Jessie 8.2. All's well except that I have no sound. I've done quite a lot of online research but got nowhere. I'm looking for ANY other practical ideas, please. What I've done: 1. Checked alsamixer & pavucontrol - I can't find
