In dem Debian Packet sind patches fuer das Problem von Solar Designer
enthalten. Mit 2.2.x Kernels scheint es zu funktionieren, 2.0.x macht

Is your DNS setup corect?
Check your logs with tail -f and try to find out when it hangs.
This ist mostly the point when the ftpd tries to lookup your remote
DNS name or IP.
