Independent repairs especially on Apple products are likely to end up being more expensive than using Apple repair since repair of iphones is a dangerous occupation even for Apple employees who are trained to do those repairs. Give it a little time and I expect in Apple's case in particular this

A good article on the Right to Repair in the US in general, and New York in particular. For New Yorkers, the state has a comprehensive law going into effect on July 1, 2023. New Yorkers will have reasonable priced access to tools, parts, and manuals required to fix their devices.
