It depends on the Display Manager started during boot. Some of the biggest
players support autologin
If I can remember correctly if you are running lightdm you can edit
/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf and change
autologin-user = username
set it to your username
but I cannot remember if you then have problems shutting the computer off.
Give it a go and see if it works
