Hi Dominique,
Since yesterday i had the same problem, i run debian-testing. Going back to
libc6-2.2.4-3 solved my problem! So nvidia in combination with libc6 seems to
be the problem.
Good luck,
Victor

Hmmm, weird, tried your suggestion, and now it works fine. Even with
libc6-2.2.4-5. I thought that 'make install' in the nvidia_glx directory
removed all conflicting files...

Thanx

I am using XFree86 v4.0.1. Does one still use startx? I have been typing
XFree86 -configfile= to start the X server. When I type startx it seems
that the system tried to run X ver3 which does not support my card. At least,
it tries to use the XF86Config instead of XF86Config-4.
Maybe

Have you tried using a display manager like xdm or gdm?
I also remember you can specify a window manager from command line
with the 'startx', but I don't know what the option is.

put wmaker in your .xinitrc and run startx. if your

icewm - no exec icewm,
I now have what appears to be a X screen coming up. I get a gray screen

set WindowMaker as the primary manager with update-alternatives.
Any suggestions on this problem?

Did I mention I was using XFree86-4.0.1? Version 3 does not
support Gladiac MX.
