O apt-setup no repositório Debian Etch faz parte do pacote chamado
base-config que ainda não está disponível para instalação via APT
utilizando o repositório Etch como fonte.
Algumas pessoas na internet utilizaram esse pacote instalado de um
repositório Sarge do Debian. Atitude que não
tempinho já...).
Eu não uso o apt-setup (usei 2 vezes para falar que nunca usei :), mas
ele é parte do d-i no Etch[2], pode tentar a instalação no modo expert
e carregar ele, mas ainda assim acho que só funciona no d-i...
Qualquer coisa a edição do sources.list é rápida, se estava usando o
apt-setup
debianHELP[1] há o mesmo problema: o base-config se
tornou obsoleto no etch (não tem no SID a um tempinho já...).

APT::Default-Release testing;
para sarge ou stable.

'unstable'. Nao funcionou com os codi-nomes... :-(

modified to point to stable now (it was pointing to unstable, of
course). aptitude update/upgrade/dist-upgrade has been run, without
problems.
