It seems like NoScript will do the job. I think that it allows YouTube by default once installed, but you can easily disable it after installing (along with the other sites it enables by default). Since most sites depend on JavaScript to embed videos, that will block most of them. I don't know

Hello, With the latest upload of the xserver-xorg package in unstable (2:1.17.2-3), the server is now supposed to run with root privileges. Do you have a logind session registered? What kind of graphic card do you have? Try to install xserver-xorg-legacy package and see if that helps.

Subtitles don't show properly in VLC, how to fix it? (Debian 7)

Hello. When I try to watch a video with external .srt subtitles in VLC, I get strings like "98 --> 00:00:11" (which are strings part of the .stt file) instead of the proper text. The problem is the same whether I open the subtitles with the "Open (advanced)" menu option, or name both files
