I just installed the ghostscript package, and it's working great, except
for this: every postscript document I print ends up with its last line cut
off. How can I stop this? I'm using a Canon BJ-200e printer.

I'm planning to install Debian from a pile of floppies. However, there
are some packages that won't fit on 1 floppy. How should I do this?

I just installed lpr on my system, and when I try to print, it gives me a
message that says something like:
lpr: cannot verify name of local host
It then exits. What's going on.

Trouble
I've read some of the Debian policy information, which says that all
manpages should have 'gzip -9' run on them. However, some of the manpages
in my /usr/man directories are not gzipped. Should this be reported as
a bug? In the meantime, what should I do?

I'm running a Debian 1.3 system on a fairly small hard drive, so I don't want
to install X. However, many console-based programs require that xlib6 be
installed. What should I do?

I've installed pppd, but I can't find any of the example files that are
spoken of in the documentation. Where are these files?

Every time I start up my system I get the following message:
starting /sbin/syslogd ...
/etc/rc2.d/S10sysklogd: line 38:64 Interruptstart-stop-daemon
--start --verbose --exec /sbin/syslogd $SYSLOGD
What does this mean? What should I do? I just upgraded to Debian 1.3.

it be, and what should I do?
Regards,
Jan Finjord
Looks like you need to get a newer kernel.

impossible for me to download some of the big packages like Emacs. Are there
versions of these big packages that are split up into smaller pieces?
Thanks.

In my /usr/lib/gcc-lib directory, the only directory entry is for
i486-linux. My machine is a 386. Do I have to get the GCC sources and
recompile, or will these libs work on my machine?

you
aren't aware of it the package list in dselect is searchable (using a /
character).
Hope this helps.
I've looked in dselect as well as in the latest Packages file, and the only
mention of FreeDOS or fdos is in the description of dosemu.

I'd like to get dosemu up and running, but it says I need to get FreeDOS
first. What is FreeDOS? Where can I get it? When I get it, what do I do
with it? Thanks.

How can I do this with dpkg? I know I can do it with dselect, but I'd rather
not use it. Thanks.
