Hi everyone.
What does this warning message mean:

It happens when I use sudo.
The background: I have got a static IP from my university, and I have

Hi everyone
At my new workplace, we have a novell file server which holds every
user's home directory. I am able to mount the volumes from this server
(one private directory and one world writeable directory) with
ncpmount after configuring the ipx network interface with
ipx_interface.

Hi Russell
I have successfully tried cygwin with XFree86-4 on win2k.
The cool thing is: You can start an X server on your W2k machine, then ssh to
your debian box with PuTTY (with X protocol forwarding enabled), and the X
programs started from the ssh console will show up in the Cygwin server.
Hi everybody
For some time I am struggling with pdflatex. Today's update of tetex resolved
the major problem I had (Acroread could not process the pdf files), but now
it is getting weird.

Sorry for the noise,
it turns out that I must not use

This is true, but I need it mainly for screen presentations...
Hi everybody
I tried out xfig yesterday and wanted to do arrows pointing around the corner
(90 degrees). I'd like these corners to be as smooth as the rounded box
corners, so I tried to split up such a rounded box and add an arrow head, but
wait: The smooth corners change into hard corners as
Hi Aryan
When I used RedHat 7.3, there was a command line utility there for
recording audio called record It was a good way for me to import my audio

even in debain's archive. Is anyone aware of a deb package for this
Hi List
Why does a mount change the file permissions of a directory?
Example:
ls -l /mnt
drwxr-xr-x2 root root 4096 2003-01-20 18:29 d
mount /mnt/d
ls -l /mnt
dr-x--1 root root 4096 2003-01-24 09:22 d
?
/etc/fstab says:
/dev/hda7 /mnt/d
jorg16384 1970-01-01 01:00 e
This is what I would expect for the ntfs partition, too.
Thanks for your info, but still seeking help
