Kernel 2.2.3

1999-03-11 Thread Faton Useni
When i updated slink from kernel 2.0.36 to 2.2.1 i got a kernel source package
from the debian ftp site. It was a debian package. I read that there where no
patches applied to the kernel source for use with debian. I am wondering since
i dont see a deb package for 2.2.2 or 2.2.3 if i can grab the 2.2.3 kernel
from ftp.kernel.org and not have any problems???
Also, has anyone else packaged these kernels in a deb??

Thanks for any input

KDE Installation Problems

1999-01-20 Thread Faton Useni
Hi,

Me again. Well i got another problem. Im trying to install the kde desktop
and i've run into a problem that i dont know how to fix. What i have done so
far to reach this error message that ill post is. I've installed the kdebase
files and the other files it requires. So no problems there. I used dselect by
the way. But when dselect trys to setup the desktop it gave me this error.

Setting up kdebase (980312-8) ...
Updating kdmrc
basename: too few arguments
Try 'basename --help' for more information
Starting kde display manager: kdm/usr/bin/X11/kdm: error in loading shared
libraries
libkdecore.sp.0: can not open shared object file: No such file or directory
.

I'm clueless on what to do next. I want to use the kdm instead of xdm and im
currently running Fvwm95. I'm also on a 2.0.34 kernel, and im using the latest
stable debian. Can anyone please help??

Thanks for any info

1999-01-13 Thread Faton Useni
Hi,
Im a new Debian Linux user and i would like to know if the usb port is
supported in the stable Debian 2.0 distribution. I want to use it to connect
my mouse, keyboard, and modem on my other machine. If it is supported, could
some please direct me to some documentation to read. Also also what *.deb
packages would be needed.

I would also like to know if can mount a fat32 partition. i have tryed mount
-t vfat /dev/hdc1 /mnt ( fat32 is on and 3rd hard drive ) but i get a error
message. Is there a *.deb package i need to install??

Thank You for any help :)
