Bug#555294: TV output on Hauppauge PVR 350 stops working after upgrade

Somehow I got the wrong lsmod. Here is the current output with X running.

Bug#555294: xserver-xorg-video-ivtv: TV output on Hauppauge PVR 350 stops working after upgrade

2009-11-08 Thread Tom Epperly
Package: xserver-xorg-video-ivtv
Version: 1.0.1-1
Severity: normal

I upgraded a Knoppmyth system using apt-get update ; apt-get
dist-upgrade, and the TV output via the PVR-350's composite out
stopped working.

The X11 server seems to be starting up fine, but nothing ultimately
shows up on my television. It acts like it's not see a signal at all
on the composite video in.

Oddly enough, I can connect to the X11 server from another machine via
LAN using xvnc4viewer, and that looks just fine.

Bug#539099: /usr/bin/compiz: compiz isn't working as a window manager

2009-07-28 Thread Tom Epperly
Package: compiz-core
Version: 0.8.2-6
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/compiz

I never explicitly changed to compiz as my window manager. I guess one
of the apt-get upgrade's made it the default. Starting sometime last
week when I logged in, no window manager came up. I had to bring up a
terminal window and run metacity --replace.

Here is output from running compiz --relace.

Bug#451264: xserver-xorg: Intel 915GM laptop hangs whole system somes when shutting down or switching to virtual terminal

2007-11-14 Thread Tom Epperly
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.3+3
Severity: normal

I've got a laptop with the following display:
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express
Graphics Controller (rev 03)

Occasionally, when shutting down X11 or when switch to a virtual
terminal (i.e., Ctrl-Alt-F1), my screen goes mostly black (with
several light gray boxes), and the whole system locks up. Once it's
locked up, I can't do anything other than force a power down. I've
tried Ctrl-Alt-Del, Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, Ctrl-Alt-F1. The LEDs down
change when I press Caps lock. I haven't SysRq Raising
Elephants... because the laptop keyboard makes it hard.

The problem seems to occur more frequently when the machine has been
booted for longer periods of time.

Bug#446385: xserver-xorg: single mouse click registers as double click

2007-11-09 Thread Tom Epperly
I am experiencing this issue, and I haven't been able to find any
configuration changes that make a difference. I've tried using
/dev/psaux, /dev/input/mouse0, /dev/input/mice as the device.

I've verified with xev that X is seeing two button press and two button
release events.

Do you have any other suggestions? I am going on the road with my
Debian laptop and the double click issue is pretty annoying.

The problem isn't the mouse, it's the config. You might also need to
remove the SendCoreEvents option.

I deleted the xorg.conf, and the behavior does not change. It still
treats a single click like a double click. xev showed similar output to
the listing above.

I just upgraded xserver-xorg to a new version, and now when I make a
single left mouse click from my Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical USB
mouse it registers as a double click. This behavior occurs in all my
applications and gnome-panel menus.

Section InputDevice

Your problem is due to these two mouse sections. Remove one of them,
and it should just work.

I tried removing the SendCoreEvents option, and it didn't change the
behavior. I didn't reboot, but I did /etc/init.d/gdm stop followed by
/etc/init.d/gdm start. A single click still acts like a double click. I
also tried using an IceWM session to eliminate my GNOME settings as a
source of the problem. It behaved the same under IceWM.

Bug#446385: xserver-xorg: single mouse click registers as double click

2007-10-12 Thread Tom Epperly
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.3+2
Severity: normal

I just upgraded xserver-xorg to a new version, and now when I make a
single left mouse click from my Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical USB
mouse it registers as a double click. This behavior occurs in all my
applications and gnome-panel menus.

It also occurs when I click the left mouse button Dell Latitude D410's
builtin touch pad.

By the way, my system sometimes freezes when I logout without shutting
down. The screen goes mostly back. There are some blocks of gray
towards the bottom of the screen. Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, Ctrl-Alt-Del,
Alt-F1, etc. don't have any effect.

Bug#345476: xserver-xorg: Logitech MX518 scroll mouse stops working with latest upgrade

2005-12-31 Thread Tom Epperly
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-1

The scroll wheel on my Logitech MX518 stopped working after I just upgraded
the X11 related files (on Debian unstabled). Yesterday, the scroll wheel
worked fine. Moving the scroll wheel moved window content up and down like
it's supposed to. Now, moving the scroll wheel has no effect.

It's a 10 button mouse, and I have
