It seems like the people running SURBL have found it too, since
edu.au now is in the whitelist of ccTLDs that never should be blocked.
SURBL has changed the name of the rbldns zone file by adding a d at
the end, so the download URL is now

Hi,
I have written a new command script that creates a filter which seems
to be promising. The rationale behind this is two observations: most
spam have several recipients and most spam is sent to invalid
addresses. Our server rejects about 75% of all incoming messages for
the latter reason.
Hi,
Something just struck me. Wouldn't it be a good idea to have the
individual addresses in the ALLRECIPS variable surrounded by angled
brackets, if it is possible to do that? It only makes sense to use
this variable with the CONTAINS filtertype, and by having such
brackets we could easily
Hi,
My log analysis and test check scripts are available for download at:
http://www.botany.gu.se/download/decludescript/LOG_analysis.zip
http://www.botany.gu.se/download/decludescript/TEST_check.zip
The first script creates a list with the number of hits for each

The SURBL filter script has been updated again and now includes:
- a maxweight variable that sets both MAXWEIGHT and the weight of
individual entries (so that filter processing stops at the first
match)
- an exclusion file where domains and ip addresses that should be
excluded from the filter
Matt,
Thanks for the suggestions.
With a maxweight variable it would also make sense to add a body
weight variable (so that this weight easily can be set to a value
other than 0). At present, the processor load shouldn't be any
problem, however, since the number of entries is rather few. This
I will update the script so that it can handle both maxweight and an
optional exclude file.
I don't think that a variable for setting the weight of rows/entries
different from the maxweight is necessary, since the purpose is to
stop processing at a match, so the maxweight option would set the

Hi,
The SURBL filter script has been updated and should now run under
both Windows NT 4 and Windows 2000. The updated script can be
downloaded at
http://www.botany.gu.se/download/decludescript/SURBL_filter.zip.
Those of you that downloaded the previous version and use it on

Hi,
The command script that downloads the SURBL rbldns zone file,

Hi again,
This version of the SURBL filter script only works under Windows 2000
and later. I will try to adjust the script so that it also can be
used on Windows NT 4.

However I hope to see SURBL soon as an additional Declude test.
I just got caught up on this thread and checked out the website for SURBL
and I agree! This would help with the stuff that passes all of the other
tests.

OK, just give me some time to add comments to the scripts. I will

If anyone is interested, I can make the SURBL script available for
download (together with some other scripts, e.g., the log analysis
and test check scripts that generated the
Scott,
If I understand this correctly, the drawback with this work-around,
compared with the MAILFROM test, is that it only looks up the A record and
doesn't check for any MX records. Any idea if this will cause a number of
false positives?
/Roger
Scott could yo explain how this works?
