Cool idea, reminds me a bit on Plymouth. My choice would be the variation of
concept 1, too much of dark grey in the other examples. And personally I'm
always interested what's going on and would like to see details on the startup
process, meaning a label. But that all is my personal taste.

Here is a mock-up for a Writer UI using two vertical toolbars and a dark
theme. The concept has like the first version a lot of free space in the UI
to make it feel lighter. When focusing on the page,
I know that I am not on the design teem, but I have to say that vertical
toolbars are not my "thing". I have dealt with some packages that use
vertical ones and did not like them either. If we want to make Writer
an option instead of MS Word, then people who are use to tool bars on
the top
