i agree with some that comment that the cache specification is broken.
there is an alternative to patching the 300+ packages: patch the cache to:
1. retry on the filesystem if the icon wasn't found in the cache (as sebastien
bacher suggested on planet gnome)
2. check recursively the mtime to

I can confirm this behaviour. It has been the case with each and every built of
xgl + compiz i've tried. But i can't be sure to say wether its due to compiz or

with XGL+Compiz except for this one. Other than that Compiz is already getting
really stable :-) Its just this little thingie why I refrain
The original problem was that the default configuration of firefox uses as
homepage a file which was in ubuntu-artwork. This problem thus only showed with
a fresh firefox install and when no user setting were imported. Also, with
hindsight, this bug should have been filed against firefox and
thank you for trying it, it'll be fixed to dapper with GNOME 2.14.1 next week

It happens often with OpenOffice on a not-so-fast computer. I guess it's a
Metacity bug.

Reassigning to totem, that's likely to be a gstreamer0.8 bug though. Do you
have an URL to an example of .mpg triggering the issue? Maybe you could try
with dapper? That could be fixed with gstreamer0.10 now
