This work-around for a common problem was too hard to find, in my
opinion.
The Ubuntu documentation provides instructions on how to enable DVD
playback (both encrypted and unencrypted) using gxine. If this

I am in the process of trying to track the error down and get a crash

Addendum to the previous note: The bug re-occured after trying to quote
some HTML mail. After an upgrade to 2.11.6.1-0ubuntu1 the symptoms
disappeared without any further intervention.

This is a wish-list report:
In a lab environment, or corporate, or anywhere with central disk space quotas,
dot-thumbnails (and lately .gnome2/gthumb/remote_cache/ too) can get quite
large,
and users can then get upset and blame me because they didn't do anything and
now
I know, in fact I use OGG as much as I can. I also have a mp3 player that
support OGG too (lucky :-) ).
But 90% of player around support Mp3 only. (at least here in Italy).
