When I'm trying to start nautilus as root (sudo nautilus) when an empty cd or
dvd is inserted into my burner it crashes with segmentation fault. I'm using
nautilus 2.22.3-0ubuntu2

In case it helps, here is the SAME file renamed test.desktop
Place both in the same directory and Nautilus will display them identically.
Both launch in the same erroneous manner.

I had this same problem and found the issue to be with PolicyKit group
settings. Common thread here seems to be -
1. Ensure /etc/hosts file is correct
2. Ensure appropriate users are added to the polkituser group in /etc/group
