This problem come back again when I start back my PC just now. And I had
to do back those crazy steps:
1) Press 'ESC' at the GRUB bootloader
2) Choose the current image but in 'Recovery Mode'
3) Pick 'xfix'
4) Resume normal boot
And then it goes as well

Hi,
I have a nVidia Corporation GeForce 8600M GT. I then decided to use the
Nvidia proprietary drivers instead of the free ones. Now, I can
hibernate (no suspending) and the computer awake 90% of the time. This
is not perfect but this is better than before.

panel applets get unsorted and don't stay right aligned and I have to

When you insert a memory card into the card reader, it works fine.
However, if you use the eject icon next to the mounted card in nautilus, it
appears that the entire card reader is 'ejected' instead of just the card.

Also affected by this, I use my laptop in lectures and was bitten by
this sound today in the middle of a lecture.
Please revive at least some of the GDM1 configuration options.
