In ubuntu 9.10 I had compiz running, now in 10.04 I don't and the
problems disappeared. Therefore it was either being caused by compiz
(most likely) or by an older version of the program. I'll try running
compiz and seeing if the bug reappears.

Sorry, I think you can close the issue. It only printed several pages of

I can confirm this problem:
1. it occured with 9.10 and after upgrade to 10.04 it's still there
2. with visual effects normal, the problem is gone and with visual effects
none it happens again.
Using 10.04 32bit (german), fglrx, gnome-terminal and any other program (gedit,
firefox).

to a friend's computer for shared access (both admins). Upon setting it
up my profile, I glanced through the permissions and found that it would
be worthwhile for me to have access to Video, Audio, etc. Thus, I
