Hi there, I had just the same issue with Gnome Software as I installed UbuntuGnome 16.04 with a french keyboard (obsolete variant). When I read the icarusminarus solution, I had changed the input keyboard with French variant (non obsolete) and then the GnomeSoftware just works like a charm.
