Thanks for the followup. Closing the debian-installer part now. The work
on the Debian side wrt. multiplexing the installer UI to mutiple
consoles sounds interesting, but I don't think we should houd our breath
for it -- I think this is going to be tricky given how different the
capabilities of VT
I believe this is fixed by https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-
systemd/systemd.git/commit/?id=be10d22 . We should also SRU this fix.

Just to add a note: it happened to me also, because I have /usr/local as
a symlink to /home/local (in a different partition) and evince (or
apparmor) correctly complained.
So all fonts from Microsoft, which are installed in /usr/local/font,
came out blank.
Setting aa-complain solved momentarily

Having just upgraded Ubuntu 16.04, and seeing systemd updates, I
rebooted the machine, but it failed to start, entering emergency mode.
Relevant piece of info was this:

In iPhoto there is a nice feature that displays a world map and then
adds pins for each collection of photos that have a location assigned.

I'm also seeing this on some PDFs in Evince from 14.04. Images appear
correctly in main window, but become inverted in print preview and in
paper printout.
When I extract images from these PDFs using pdfimages tool, extracted

(with windows XP), the windows poweroff normally, but ubuntu do not: it

$TERM only gets set for units which have Standard{Output,Error}=tty. By
default services only have a stdout/err pipe to the journal, and rc-
local.service uses journal+console which is still a pipe. So it would be
