I have this bug (and some other related ones) on a Lenovo ThinkPad L540
running Ubuntu 18.04.2. I switched to using lightdm which works around
the issues, but I don't like lightdm as much.
I see it's marked "Fix Released" above; excuse the ignorant question,
but does this mean I will soon be

icons on the left. Those are the duplicates. They do not respond when
clicked and cannot be dragged or auto-arranged.
The ones that do work mostly have customized folder images. For

Sorry, but I am not sure I could tell the difference so I will try and

Workaround in #19 working for me so far on Ubuntu 19.04. Have done a
reboot test and a powerup test so far.
Something I noticed earlier when the machine was stuck is that the machine was
able to get to the point where I could ssh to it after the GUI hadn't started.
