Right. Now I call `apport-cli` with the crash file as parameter. As soon
as I press "S", the program terminates immediately. No browser window is
being opened.

Sounds like you forgot to pass the crash file as a parameter to 'apport-
cli'?

Without a reason, CPU usage for gnome-shell jumps from 4% to 22%.

1- Turn on remote desktop, turn on VNC.
2- Only turn off remote desktop while leaving VNC checked
3- Reboot
4- The VNC port is listening to connections even though remote desktop says off

Thanks. I've found the corresponding crash log and tried to attach it
here, but the upload fails (always end up on a site saying "Uh oh :(".
Might be the file size (76M), even a gzipped version (55M) did not
succeed.
Using `ubuntu_bug` as recommended in
note: I apt installed gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad after trying the button,
but before doing ubuntu-bug, hence it showing up in the
GstreamerVersions.txt file.
