This seems to be similar to what I have found after upgrading to
precise. When I plug in a webcam with micorphone via usb, that works
(but I need the rear microphone jack working as the webcam is only
borrowed to test the point.)
See attached screenshot. The rear microphone jack is detected.
Because of a problem with fglrx I have had to reinstall from scratch. I
found that I could not reinstall from Ubuntu beta 2 or daily builds and
have had to reinstall natty then upgrade. (if it might give any clue to
the current bug the oneric install could not start the screen with or
without
I had the issue with 10.10 Maverick right up until I upgraded to 11.04
Natty. Now it seems to have been fixed in Natty.

For the various upstream terminal projects following along - it seems
like a wise idea to specifically set TERM to xterm in your terminal
code. GNOME Terminal does this (see terminal-screen.c around like 1386),
and as a result of our early Maverick testing, Terminator 0.95 also
follows this

To rage at the darkness somewhat - please don't make lots of work for people by

I saw this on an X300 too, but I can't reproduce it with Karmic on an
X301. I'm not sure if the hardware is the same though. With the X300 I
think it's because the touchpad and trackpoint appear as a single XInput
device where on the 301 they appear as two devices.

fwiw I think this bug is indeed Invalid. The size of the heap is the
responsibility of glibc to manage and it appears (from what I've quickly turned
up with google) to not aggressively shrink heap sizes.

Is anyone still able to reproduce this? Shang has indicated that after
upgrading to Intrepid (and thus terminator 0.11) he is able to split the
window now.

On further investigation with Shang it seems to relate to combinations
of encoding and titlebar setting.
Shang: could you elaborate on exactly which combinations do and do not
crash, please?

Chris: The reason this is being claimed as a bug is because gnome-
system-monitor is the only app in the desktop which is making its
background transparent (I'll disregard GNOME Terminal because terminals
are strange hairy beasties that many users won't care about).
gnome-system-monitor looks out

message that the link is broken, and offers to move it to Trash.

Confirming and re-assigning to libvisual-plugins because that seems to
be where the segfault is happening, and downgrading to
libvisual-0.4-plugins_0.4.0.dfsg.1-2_i386.deb stops the segfaulting.

In hardy, totem would happily prompt for the information and store it in
gnome-keyring.
