if you don't use something you should just not run it
I don't run gnome-panel, still it appears. And I cannot uninstall it because it
is required by gnome-session.
it's only one gconf key to change to not run it
And you are the only one who knows it. Why not tell us?

Their reaction was convert your media collection. I would be a nice
(though troublesome) decision but then portable mp3-players won't
understand such converted id3 tags.

The issue is
There is a difference between buggy and unexpected. ~90% of music
in Russian is encoded in cp1251, portable players with Russian mp3
support also assume that is's in cp1251. But it's expected by
Rhythmbox to be in Unicode. It may be not very good but it's the case.
And it's much simplier to patch

Look at the screenshot. Geany is running but it shows only 2 terminals (one of
which's been already closed). This happends not very often but regularly.
A click on the place where some app should be works correctly.
Upd: I've just noticed
Confirming on Karmic, 2.28.0-0ubuntu2, with any command.
Command is listed right after adding but is missing when you run
gnome-session-properties again.

Not confirming, I tried on current karmic in a guest session adding an
Gedit gedit entry and hitting enter to validate, the gedit entry
is added to the list and a desktop is

And it at least was upstream but in vain. They are not interested in
compatibility with large amount of music created for Windows player's. Of
course there is a possibility to convert all id3 tags to Unicode but they in
turn will be incompatible with almost all
