I can confirm the regression on my ubuntu up-to-date 8.10 64bit on a dell xps m1330. I can also confimrm the behaviour described by arturj in comment 104. For me as well raising the critical action threshold to at least 360 seconds was working as a workaround in ubuntu 8.04. No bios updates
