I agree with the general consensus here.
RDP is not "desktop interactive" and VNC is insecure, however, when SSH
tunneling to the VNC localhost server, is very secure.
Enabling Vino for Ubuntu Gnome desktop was brutally simple and easy,
plus there is excellent support for using SSH to connect.
FWIW, I have a pretty consistent reproduction of this on my 20.04
machine here. Restarting gnome-shell with Alt-F2 then "r" causes all
the window management stuff to go away, but doesn't actually kill the
process that's reporting the giant resident set size. Manually killing
that pid also causes

fixed the display issues with the Irfanview (WINE) snap. Woo!

when installing the gnome source that got things working. I will try

Some users prefer to use an alternative Latin layout such as Dvorak to
increase their typing speed. Many of these users prefer to use the
original Qwerty keyboard shortcuts which are conveniently positioned
