My Ubuntu machine with Intel + Nvidia graphics with automatic session
start randomly logs into X11 or Wayland (no idea why) and it looks like
this Nautilus bug happens less often (if at all) on Wayland. Maybe it's
X11-specific?

(on my machine they work everytime but I couldn't reproduce on a virtual
machine)
1. Open the file browser (Nautilus) from the dock.
2. Shift+click the same icon on the dock to open another window.
3. Ctrl+T to open a new tab in one of the Nautilus windows.

If upstream Gnome is dragging its feet to solve this, would I be asking
too much if I suggested Ubuntu to bundle the "Applications Overview
Tooltip" in the distro? At least users won't have to mess with browser

metacity --replace stalls and hangs

i lost the top bar of windows (the one that contains the minimize,
maximize, and shutdown buttons).
i issued metacity --replace and sudo metacity --replace
the terminal hung and after an hour or so, i received the following
message:
Window manager warning: Buggy client
latest updates doesn't seem to solve the problem.
compiz/metacity can be enabled now. however, the transparency aspect doesn't
work. i'm using cairo-dock.
i have completely removed cairo-dock and reinstalled, and transparency still
doesn't work.

Installed 11.04 on the Toshiba netbook with all the updates. Same problem with
brightness occurs.
Additionally, the screen chronically flickers with large bands of black
on the bottom half of the screen and ocassionally, the entire screen
flickers.

After the latest update, 2.6.32-25-generic, I find that Ubuntu on my
Acer Aspire One - 150-1635 now shows the internet as disabled. Both the
wired and wireless still work fine with Win XP, and they worked fine
before with Ubuntu, starting with 2.6.28-15 and surviving all the
