Any chance this is actually going to get added? I think with shotwell
being the default image editing application in Ubuntu there should be a
user friendly method of resizing - as simple as edit, resize, enter
percentage or pixel value.

2) Open Rhythmbox
3) Go to edit/preferences and select the music tab
4) Notice the drop down box for the preferred format appears to be missing FLAC
5) Select this empty space and try to rip a CD
6) Get error

Same problem here. I hadn't even noticed I couldn't edit the settings
for ripping to Vorbis or MP3, but this is the first I've tried ripping a
CD in Rhythmbox since 11.10 was released. Was that an intentional
change?
(I do hope they bring Rhythmbox back as the default player. Banshee

I can confirm that this no longer attempts to transcode AAC files when
transfering to an iPod.
Tested on my 4th-gen greyscale 20gb, Ubuntu Hardy 64 bit, Rhythmbox
package 0.11.5-0ubuntu8.

I just tested this. It's... strange.
The files work better now than they did before; for example they are now
showing the proper run time of a file when played back in totem or VLC.
The skipping isn't as bad but sound is very clipped, sounds tinny /
vaguely underwater and occasionally runs over

The only workaround I know of is to use an application that doesn't rely
on gstreamer for the encoding. The abcde program that some have
mentioned uses the plain faac I think, so it isn't affected by this; I
haven't tried it myself. Rhythmbox still tries its transcoding weirdness
when iPod syncing
I'm also having this problem. Oddly it seemed to transcode my AAC
files... to AAC format. The files were previously ripped with iTunes.
They play without issue but if I use Rhythmbox to put music on the iPod
(a 4th gen greyscale 20gb, firmware 3.1.1) and then try accessing the

I noticed from the old documentation that there was a gstreamer0.8-faac
package required in addition to the gstreamer0.8-ffmpeg. I looked
through the repositories to see if there were equivalents to these for
gstreamer0.10 and saw a gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
