The import dialog (see attachment) does not provide an option to choose
the target directory. I have also read Help - Contents and f-spot
Documentation web pages, but failed to find a solution. Can you please
tell me how to choose the target directory when importing photos?
** Attachment added:
In Hardy or Jaunty, f-spot still does not allow importing pictures to a
custom directory. It's really a bad idea to store photos in a deeply
nested date-based directory structure. Martin Pitt, can you please port
your patch to the current version and submit it to upstream? Thanks!

Booting into old Feisty and Gutsy kernels, the camera detected prompt
doesn't still pop up, and I cannot import the photos from the camera
using F-Spot or gThumb either. (Attaching error message screenshots...)
So it is not a kernel problem. It's probably a gnome-volume-manager
issue.

Expected behavior: When the digital camera is plugged in, a camera

gThumb should be able to import without any problems.
The bug is a regression introduced in Hardy.

The solution should be to make eject work well with all USB hard drives,

do not eject all USB/Firewire devices
Just for the record: among the three external hard drives I have access
to, feisty can eject two Cypress CY7C68300C-56PVXC based external hard

Perhaps it is a bug in the usb_storage driver?
I hope the problem will be fixed soon.
