For those new to applying a patch, here is what I did.
- Downloaded patch file (/home/myuser/Downloads)
- Followed this handy blog post to download the source and recompile
Oops, left out blog url from previous post. Regarding applying a patch to a
package, this is how I downloaded the nautilus package so I could apply the
patch.

Sorry, that was a red herring. I figured out how to disable the gnome-

I've also tried renaming the gnome-keyring-daemon, and now on a login

assume that gnome-keyring-daemon is not the culprit. Still no clue what
the culprit is,

/usr/bin/pulseaudio --log-target=syslog

You're correct; I don't know that the bug is in gnome-keyring for
certain. What I do know is that the gnome login process hangs at gnome-
keyring-daemon.
Is there a way I can test a gnome login without the keyring daemon, to
eliminate that as the culprit? I'm happy to provide any other info you

I can finally report some good news. Now every time I try (using the
latest CD), I get the attached error dialog. The dialog is blank and
doesn't have any GUI buttons, but if I close it from the title bar,
ubiquity takes me back to the manual partition screen *and* my hard disk

Gparted should return 1 Cancel from the apply command when one of

Specifically, I have tried to resize an NTFS partition through ubiquity
(which embeds gparted for manual partitioning), and when this operation
fails, gparted does not emit a cancel/error
Cool, downloading the latest CD now, and will try it in the a.m. Thanks

I originally raised the issue of the old flat icon next to nice gadient/3d
icons.
http://kwh.kernow-gb.com/~bvc/dapper-xubu/distributor-logo.png
The button concept was shot down by the art team, which is why up until now, it
was the improved 3d-ish icon. I haven't a clue why this was implemented
There is nothing unusual going on here. The reason you do not see this
with other icon themes is because they do not make the gtk-close icon a
button. I have no real preference on whether or not it is a button. The
problem can usually be fixed adjusting the x and y thickness in the gtk
theme, but
I just started using gdm for the first time in years, only because it is
necessary (for some reason on my upadated from warty-beta sys) and I
agree a new gdm is a necessity. Unfortunately, I can in late in the

time is limitedd
Hmmm while that may be true on a slow network, this UI bug is still a bug --
the user is given no indication why the behavior would be different. My
network must be better than yours, I burn ISO's from shared drives all the time
