I did just download and burn Ubuntu Lucid Alpha 3 and tested GIMP 2.6.8.
The only thing I can say is that the problem has magically disappeared!
I can now use the guides with both my mouse and Wacom Bamboo tablet
without GIMP acting weird. In Karmic the problem is still there. I can't
wait until

For me it is not an issue at this right moment, as I am on Debian 5.0. I
have been on Intrepid for a while after it became stable in October and
also didn't encounter this issue anymore.

The problem also happens to me. Since this morning, whenever I start
Evolution it crashes after about 5 seconds. I just migrated from
Thunderbird to Evolution, finding it better to use, but right now
Evolution is not usable at all. I also tried to reinstall Evolution and
all its dependencies, but
UPDATE: I found that the problem occurred in the evolution-rss
package. After removing it Evolution started again as normal.

Totem was also uninterruptible on my system after I was watching a flash
movie which I downloaded from Youtube. I couldn't kill totem in the
system monitor, so I tried to kill it with sudo kill process id,
that also didn't work. When restarting my system ubuntu logged out, but
didn't want to go
